unexpected glimpses of natural light phenomema

the ten. equinox.

Street grids aligned east/west provide a convenient way to determine equinox dates. If you’re driving on such a street and the sun rises or sets right in front of you, it must be an equinox! This happened to me on a recent drive on I-10 heading back to Los Angeles. Looooooong stretches of this freeway run directly east/west, creating a blindingly perfect equinox reference.
